Dreambig: Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators in the Midlands

To dream big, you don’t need to go far.

The Dreambig Programme is a flagship regional initiative designed to inspire, engage, and empower senior cycle students (Transition Year, 5th and 6th year) across Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, and Longford to pursue exciting futures in advanced manufacturing. Delivered through a dynamic and collaborative partnership between local authorities, leading industries, educational institutions, and innovation centres, Dreambig offers a unique experiential learning journey.

What to Expect

Over the course of five immersive days, selected students will:

  • Visit leading manufacturing companies across the Midlands and learn first-hand about globally recognised products and cutting-edge innovations made locally.
  • Discover the real-life stories of the people behind the region’s manufacturing excellence.
  • Take part in professionally led, hands-on workshops aligned with DREAM themes:
    • Digitalisation
    • Robotics
    • Engineering
    • Advanced Manufacturing
    • Materials

Each day blends industry exposure with interactive activities that bring theory to life and allow students to visualise themselves as future STEM leaders and changemakers.

  • 91+ participating students

This collective vision is building the Midlands as a global hub of advanced manufacturing talent and opportunity.

Eligibility & Participation

  • Open to TY, 5th, and 6th-year students in Laois, Longford, Offaly, and Westmeath.
  • Only 20 spots per county – places are limited and in high demand.
  • Students must be committed to participating for the full week.
  • Transport provided daily to and from a central location in each county.
